We know that the future of our clubs is shaped by their youngest members. For that reason, we are looking to develop a Youth Forum in Leighton Buzzard, giving young people aged 15–17 a genuine voice within the local sports community.
This forum will be overseen by Be Active and designed around the needs and interests of the group. The aim is to better understand what young people in sports clubs would like to see, what are the barriers to taking part in sport? What draws them in, what keeps them engaged, and what might cause them to drop out?
The forum will evolve over time, with its direction led by those involved. We envisage a mixture of in-person and virtual sessions across the year to make participation as accessible and flexible as possible.
Being part of the forum will help young people develop a stronger voice, along with valuable skills they can bring back to their clubs. They may go on to support marketing, help shape a more inclusive environment, or even develop a youth council within your club.
At this stage, we are simply asking clubs to express their interest and indicate how many young people they may wish to put forward.
If you are interested, please complete the short form below. Further details will then be shared in the coming weeks.
