Bedford Swifts 36 Leighton Buzzard 2nds 31
Buzzards started off brightly on their first visit to the opposition 22 with Julian Gallie intercepting a pass and powering over and score under the posts. The two sides were evenly matched in the first half, with both sides unable to convert time in the 22 into points until just before half time Bedford found a gap to score.
The second half opened up, with Terry Wessels, penetrating weak points in the Bedford defence to touch down. Bedford however matched the scoring and halfway through scored 2 tries in succession to go into a substantial lead. Buzzards did not give up and opportunities opened up for Wessels and Gallie to both cross the whitewash again and Ollie Gronert won a kick and chase to narrow the Bedford lead but Buzzards eventually ran out of time, Bedford winning 36-31. Dan Chalmers kicked well to score 3 of 5 conversions.
