GRAHAM WINS BY A WHISKER…

Retired doctor and former Mentmore golfer Graham Robinson won Leighton Buzzard golf club’s first major trophy of the year by the tightest of margins.
Graham, pictured with new Leighton Club Captain Tim Mitchell after his win in the drive-in opener of the year, beat Alan Payne on countback after both carded 27 points in the event restricted to 12 holes due to heavy rain.
Graham achieved his win after scoring more points on the last three holes despite Alan potting a hole-in-one on the 150-yard Par 3 9th.  Dean Oakley took third place from Alan Savage on countback after both finished with 26 points.  The event raised £600 for charity.
Leighton Ladies five clubs and a putter competition was won by Vice Captain Barbara Rickard who also won countback, thanks scoring more of her points on the last few holes after Rosalind Miles carded the same score, with Madeline Jones, Michelle Plummer and Joanna Cox all a shot adrift.
