GOLFING SENIORS FINISH IN STYLE….

Senior golfers at Leighton Buzzard’s Plantation Road club have signed off their season in style, remaining undefeated in their last 13 matches.
Skipper Andy Mcdonald completed his inter-club programme with an 8-0 white-washing of John O’Gaunt, 4-3 victory over Stocks, 4-3 win over Silverstone and 5-2 beating of Bedfordshire golf club.
With just the pre-Christmas Barney Hallam trophy to play for, Devonian Andy has a track record of 17 victories and just nine defeats in his 2022 campaign, with one match halved.
The retired estates services director will stand down at the club AGM in January when he will be succeeded by the much travelled Paul Bishop.
*Retired quantity surveyor Nicholas Brown, 70, carded 44 points to win Leighton Buzzard’s Austen Farrell Trophy for senior golfers, In his first major trophy win in the 40 years as a member of the Leighton club, Bletchley-based beat 80 other competitors , with national newspaper sub-editor Mike Smith runner-up a shot adrift.  Steve Richardson was third on countback after finishing with 41 points along with Peter Gadsden.
* Peter Burgoyne has only yards to walk from his home to the first tee at the Leighton course, but he warmed up well before carding 41 points to win the Midweek stableford with 41 points, pipping Paul Ahmet on countback on the last nine holes.  David Sweetnam was third with 39 points, a shot clear of Martin Flynn, with Chris Newnham heading a chasing with 37 points.
* Adam Waite carded a nett 64 to win Leighton’s October Medal, beating Barry Witherden by a shot, with Billy O’Neill third with a nett 67.

Company research director Mark Vincent has completed his season with four trophies under his belt.
Mark, 59, a member of the Leighton club for the past ten years, won Graham Freer’s Captains’ Day with an impressive 40 point haul, carded 41 points to win the Sandhouse Beefeater trophy at West Herts; won Colin Aitken’s Sandhouse Captain’s Cup at Northampton with 43 points and was crowned Sandhouse 2022 champion with an aggregate three-round total of 123 points
Mark, research director with an engineering company, will now be Sandhouse Captain for the five-match 2023 Series, with Colin Aitken President.
