Leighton Buzzard 2nd 66 v 22 Olney

The score doesn’t do Olney justice, this was a well-contested game with several periods when Buzzards came under sustained pressure conceding three well worked tries by Olney and a penalty try.

The game started with a try from Will Batchelor within the opening minutes catching Olney completely unprepared and not expecting a prop to be on the right wing side stepping and throwing dummies. The restart almost delivered another try on the right wing for Felix Fiske after receiving a delicate pass from Harry Nossiter but he was brought down by an Olney defence that had by now woken up. Continued sustained pressure from Buzzard’s big forwards with PJ Fraser, Andy Mason, Ben Vincent, Callum Creber and Jacob Barker battering Olney’s defence eventually leading to a try for Leigh Draper.

Olney were clearly not going to give in and mounted their own assault on Buzzard’s try line several waves resulted in a try on the left wing which wasn’t converted.

Buzzards were clearly annoyed and set about a blast of tries in quick succession either side of halftime. Olney scored another try on the lefty wing, Buzzards conceded a penalty try and then another try on the right wing. Again Buzzards responded and in just a few minutes rattled of threes tries through Ollie Taylor, Jacob Dove and Dan Chalmers. Dan Chalmers was the man of the match with three tries and eight conversions.
