The winners of five competitions at Leighton Buzzard’s Plantation Road golf club have been decided in an end-of-season climax after s stop-start Covid-affected year.
· David Embury is the new Lucking Cup champion. After beating Steven Paine in the semi-final, he beat David Evens in the final, David having eliminated the ever-present Ian Woodman in his “semi.”
· Lewis Greene and Lee Harnett teamed up to win the Rosebery Cup. Having beaten Matthew Lowe and Mike J Snith in the semi-final, they toppled Paul Bishop and Alexis Panaylotou, victors over George Elford and Barry Witherden in their semi final,
· The new Davis Cup champions are Diana Pellow and Peter Sheridan. Having beaten Patti Marriott and David Wormack in the semi-fiinal, they took the title with a Cup final win over Lesley Bednarek and Karl Hunter, who had beaten Gill Mcdougall and Simon Thornton in their semi-final.
· Steve Richardson is the new Club Seniors champion. After beating club Vice Captain Graham Freer in the semi-final, Steve took the title with a win over Stuart Goodwin, who had beaten Phil Rickard in his semi-final.
· The new Henley Cup champion is Declan Shannon after a three-way tie with John McSweeney and Julian Scarr. All finished with scores of +6, with the final placings determined on countback.
Leighton’s September Medal was won by nine-handicap golfer Neil Laming who pipped David Miles on countback after both finished with scores of nett 67. Brian Wilson took third spot with a nett 68, a shot clear of David Banwell, with Simon Rose and Peter Morgan heading a chasing pack with nett 70s.
Leighton Buzzard Seniors beat Stocks 3-2 with one match halved, and then drew 4-4 against Silverstone.
Skipper Denis Leitch teamed up with Paul Johnson to open Leighton’s account with a half, but it took wins by Graham Pellow and Martin Flynn, Peter Myrants and Danny Nairne and Iam Rimmer and Graham Robinson to secure victory for Leighton.
In a nip-and-tuck match against Silverstone, Paul Bishop and Keith Griffiths, Terry Lingham and Chris Figg and Andy Mcdonald and David Roberts won their matches, with ties by Harry Adam and Roy Virgee and Barry Nappin and Derek Browning adding the extra point.

Geoff’s latest success was on Leighton’s 150-yard 14th hole, where he used his ever-faithful 5-wood for his inch perfect shot.
