Leighton Buzzard Golf club has appointed a House Manager in a development which merges food and beverage services at the 700-member club.
Louise King, who has more than 25 years experience in the hospitality industry has joined the management team at the Plantation Road club as golf and social activities return to normal following Covid pandemic restrictions being lifted after 18 months of turmoil.
Although no stranger to Leighton Buzzard and surrounding areas after living in Billington for many years, Louise describes herself as a “golfing orphan” having never taken up the sport, despite father Steve and mum Elsa both being keen and proficient golfers, and members of the Leighton club.
Says Louise, who was manager of the Crazy Bear public house in Whitchurch before joining the Leighton club: “After 25 years in the hospitality industry, I very much welcome this new challenge as the Leighton club prepares to celebrate its centenary in 2025. We have a great food and beverage team and a membership renowned for its hospitality both on and off the course, and am delighted to have had the opportunity of joining them.”
Leighton’s current club house, built on the footprint of its predecessor, was officially opened in 1999. As well as catering for the social needs of members, guests and visitors, facilities and services including in-house catering, can be hired for private functions, such as weddings which can be conducted on the premises, parties and meetings.
