OLIVIA TO BE JUNIORS’ CAPTAIN….

The daughter of Leighton Buzzard Golf Club’s highly-regarded professional is to be the next Captain of the Junior Section.
Seventeen year-old Olivia Campbell will succeed Ed Stephenson in January – with Ed’s younger brother George her Vice Captain.
Olivia, whose dad Maurice has been the Leighton club professional for almost 20 years, took up golf ten years ago and now plays off a handicap of 20.
A member of the Leighton junior team that won the coveted Tavistock Trophy, Olivia recently teamed up with Ed to finish runners-up in the club Mixed Turkey medal, winning an oven-ready turkey for their efforts.
A former pupil at Cedars, Olivia, who is also keen on playing ladies rugby, is now studying Sports Science at West Herts College
The 600-member Leighton club has an enviable record of achievement with its juniors. Three Vandyke school members won the English Schools team championships three years ago and Ed Stephenson was named the first winner of Leighton Linslade Sports Council’s Achiever of the Year award almost a year ago.
More than 20 former Leighton juniors have gone  on to secure employment in golf and related activities.  The club currently has vacancies in the junior section and hopes to be taking on recruits in the New Year.
