CATERING MANAGER COOKS UP A WIN…..

Casual golfer Anthony Cooper joined playing pals at Leighton Buzzard’s Plantation Road club – and won the first competition in which he was eligible to play.
The forty-year-old catering manager beat 191 other club members to win the July Medal with a tasty 44 points, a score which resulted in his 27 handicap being trimmed by three shots.
Says Anthony, who lives in Bradwell Village, Milton Keynes: “I joined Leighton because I have mates who play there, and have been made very welcome. Winning was a a real bonus.”
Former baker Will Sampson was runner-up with 43 points, his 12 handicap being reduced by two shots, with third-placed Connor Delahaye also having two shots cut from his 28 handicap after carding 42 points.
There was tough competition in the Stephenson household, with young George  carding 40 points to finish 6th, beating brother and reigning Club Champion Ed by a shot…with dad Ada finishing 56th with 33 points.
Other leading scores were:  41pts  – Phil Coumbe; 40pts – Fraser McJannet, George Stephenson; 39pts – Mark Hammond, Edward Stephenson, Jamie Thomson; 38pts – Gregory White, Shaun Cavanagh, Chris Yirrell, Simon Rossiter;  37pts – Jason Brooks, Darren Alexander, Paul Dowdeswell, Tyler Crosta, Shane Bentley, John Smith, Alexis Panaylotou.
The Club champiionships take place this coming weekend, with the new champion being crowned after the second-round play-offs on Sunday.
