Retired farmer Nick Rathbone pictured receiving the 50th Anniversary trophy from Leighton Buzzard Golf Club Immediate Past Captain Robbie John – his first solo trophy win since joining the Plantation Road club in 1975, the year Leighton celebrated its 50th anniversary.
Nick, 78, was also a long-time member of the Mentmore club until its demise five years ago, was Captain there in 2001 and won several club competitions.
Now a regular on the Leighton course with wife Jenny, Nick is the current holder of the club trophy he won with 39 points, beating Ben Hazell on countback, a shot clear of Keith Edmunds, Andrew Jones and Stuart Mills.
