Buzzards win against Bletchley

A strong Buzzards squad visited Bletchley, determined to continue their unbeaten run. Buzzards opened brightly with Dan Abbott touching down from a rolling maul. Another line-out maul came to nothing and Bletchley then fought back, finding a gap on the flank to score.

The hosts were camped in the Buzzards half, until half-time, but Buzzards showed their defensive qualities denying Bletchley any chance of scoring even though full back Jake Wheeler saw yellow for a late tackle. In the 2nd half, Buzzard forwards attacked in multiple phases within 5m of the line against a tiring Bletchley pack until prop Jamie Steele powered over. Fly-half Oliver Gronert was in excellent kicking form and his probing penetrative kicks caused issues for the Bletchley defense.

At the restart, Buzzards resumed the attacks and continued to drive forward until captain Ross Bevan drove through a gap to score. Bletchley were helped by an increasing penalty count against Buzzards, managing to reduce the deficit, but a fired-up Buzzards immediately fought back from a penalty scrum, driving forward for hooker Gary Low to touch down.

Bletchley then attacked with a vengeance, with 10 minutes to go but Buzzards held out to win 22 – 12, despite a yellow card for centre Julian Gallie, for successively slowing the ball the down in the rucks
