BILLY BUCKETS HIS 14TH GOLF  TROPHY….

Vision technician Billy O’Neill has bucketed his 14th trophy since joining Leighton Buzzard golf club nearly 29 years ago.

Heath and Reach based Billy, 63, bounced back to winning form after treatment from a golf doctor to correct a sudden dip in form, winning the Presidents’ Putter by a four shot margin. He beat 156 other competitors with a best-yet nett 62 which included four birdies.

And Immediate Past Captain Robbie John has now presented Billy with the Grovebury Medal awarded to the player with the best aggregate scores in medal competitions played during five months of last year.

Long-time golfing pals Darren Valentine and Steve Richardson beat John McKay and Jon Dunning on countback after both pairs carded 46 points in the latest weekend Captains Cup qualifiers. They now join John Tarbox and Graham Hazell, Alan Smith and John McSweeney and John Ager and Phil Coumbe, along with other weekend winners, in the final to be played on April 4.
