HUSBAND AND WIFE TAKE OVER AS GOLF CAPTAINS….

 
The new Captain of the 100-strong Ladies Section at Leighton Buzzard gold club will be installed today (Tues)….with her husband waiting in the wings to take over as Captain of the Senior Section.
 
Mum of three Christine Rimmer succeeds Carmen White-Lawes as Ladies Captain just four years after joining the Plantation Road club with husband Ian following the closure of Mentmore .
 
Retired oil industry project manager Ian, 71, formally succeeds Peter Myrants as Captain of the Senior Section in January, when former RAF officer Simon Rossiter will succeed fellow ex-serviceman Robbie John as Club Captain.
 
Today’s traditional “drive in” of Cheshire-born Christine has been arranged by her vice captain Sandra Carter whose husband Brian is Club President.
 
Christine and Southport-born husband Ian have been married for 50 years, but are putting their Golden Wedding celebrations on hold until they have finished their terms as captains late next year.
 
Club Handicap champion Jamie Stone, who lost out in a sudden death play-off for the Club Championship top-spot in August, will be tucking into a locally-reared turkey in the next  few weeks after winning Saturday’s Medal with a nett 68.  Almost 100 members took part in the event, with David Hanley, David Womack and Peter Lawrence by a shot finishing a shot behind winner Jamie.  Ian Woodman and Tyler Crosta headed a chasing pack with nett 70s, a shot clear of Alex Smith, Phil Coumbe, Simon Warrington and Christian Lester.
 
And Richard and Angela Samuels have their oven at the ready for a Christmas turkey after winning the Mixed Medal foursomes with a nett 73.0, half a shot clear of Stephanie Howlett and Howard Till, with Peter and Josie Sheridan third with a nett 74.5
                                                                                                                                                        
Jackie Stimpson won the Ladies Medal Cup with a two-round score of 157, beating Angela Samuels by five shots, while Judy Ammon won the Ladies October stableford with 35pts, with Josie Sheridan runner-up with 34pts, a shot clear of Patti Marriott and Judy Malpass.
